Ifat 2026: MOBA presents Smart-City Platform for municipalities and waste operators

  • MOBA and its subsidiary KWS present smart waste solutions in Hall A6, Booth 352
  • MAWIS platform: Modular end-to-end solution for waste management and municipal service operations
  • Mobile weighing sstems: legal-for-trade MOBA and KWS systems including a new cloud solution

As of 2026, new EU and federal regulations will tighten requirements for transparency, verifiability and efficiency in waste management. The practical and economical implementation of these will be demonstrated  by MOBA at IFAT in Munich from May 4 to 7, 2026 (Hall A6, Booth 352).

For the first time MOBA will also be presenting solutions from KWS. The Austrian specialist for vehicle-mounted, legal-for-trade weighing systems has been part of the MOBA Group since 2025 and further expands the portfolio accordingly.

MAWIS as a Platform: Central Control for Waste Management and Municipal Services

MOBA provides a central digital platform for waste management and municipal services. With MAWIS, municipalities and waste operators can optimize processes, use resources more efficiently and sustainably reduce costs. At the same time, the solution ensures transparency and traceability across the entire value chain for municipalities, service providers and citizens.

Since 1991, MOBA has been driving automation in the waste management sector. Proven technologies such as RFID-based container identification and vehicle-mounted weighing systems, fill-level monitoring for public containers and GPS tracking are integrated into the central software platform MAWIS U2.

MAWIS U2 is designed as a digital control center for modern smart city requirements. The platform supports functions such as a route optimization, customer, property and container management, shift and maintenance planning, as well as comprehensive reporting tools. The collected data forms the basis for digital service verification and billing-related analyses, up to the automated creation of fee notices.

Integrated Hardware: Sensors, Identification and Mobile Weighing Technology

With MOBA’s modular hardware components, MAWIS can be tailored precisely to the requirements of municipalities and waste management companies. At IFAT, MOBA will present its full product portfolio live at the booth: proven RFID-Solutions for unique container identification, Telematic Solutions for capturing position and route data, fill-level sensors (FLS) for demand-based collection planning as well as mobile weighing.

Mobile Weighing Technology from MOBA and KWS

In addition to proven weighing systems for front rear and side loaders as well as vehicle body scales, the company will also present the HLC-4000 wheel loader weighing system. It combines dynamic real-time weighing with robust sensor technology, intuitive operation and cloud connectivity.

The portfolio is further complemented by solutions from KWS, including a legal-for-trade crane scale. As a new product highlight, the Austrian specialist will also introduce a legal-for-trade onboard weighing system combined with the Weight HUB, a cloud solution for centralized, cross-site storage of weight data.
